Mosaic Skies

Granted words are a bit sketchy, but the memory’s vision is the windowpane of the mind. Seeing through emotion, wandering haphazardly over thoughts, drifting through time and again gradually coming back to familiar places that once were tangible and evident. Imagery so vivid you’d be there if it weren’t for words blocking the light. Stepping away, the fingers manage to think again lasting only a moment and then it’s gone like a butterfly fluttering on a summer’s day. See her tiny wings?

Many Hats

There once was a man with many hats, he wore them on every occasion. He knew when to remove them, how to greet all kinds of people and would teach his gentlemanly ways to young men in worldly preparation. As the years went by and fashion changed so did the art of fedoras, but the man continued his way tipping his bray never swaying from his litigation, that no matter the style; manners never wear out even when the brim is frayed. by Melissa D. Santa Soles

Marketing and Branding ourselves for success whether as a business or individual consistently permeates the airwaves as the pathway to success. So, it is not unusual to think about Santa during the holidays as a shining example of the ideal brand. The remarkable part of Santa is he is over 1000 years “old” and that hasn’t stopped or slowed him down yet. As a matter of fact, his brand has grown exponentially! So, here’s a reminder for the naughty list, when you trade traits such as wisdom, experience, reliability, respect and endurance in, for something else, you get foolishly what you pay for.

Santa is a brand that has lasted centuries. Why? His Image. The concentric Santa premise has never changed, although he has evolved and transformed culture after generation. What can we take from the core of Santa’s success? He is a giver, he makes lists, he checks them twice, he’s jolly and wise, and he even smokes a pipe. The most wondrous aspect of Santa’s business is that he is respected by all girls and boys. His customer service is always on time. He incorporates helpers into his business plan. He gives credit for all efforts and acknowledges outstanding behavior.

What I love about the Santa brand is, as his business expands, know one knows his secrets. He is so stealth about what he does, nothing can get the drop on his next move. He creates intrigued and suspense – GENIUS! But, the one sure operational maneuver is that he will deliver on Christmas. Has Santa gone over board? Can his image last for future generations? “It can also be advocated that, although Santa Claus is not real, the Christmas spirit is real.”[104] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Claus Father Christmas was sent to restore the spirit of faith in this religious season and that is eternal. I BELIEVE…

Can you see the Fruit Trees through the Forrest?

Today, as I was walking my usual lunch break route, I thought of how much time and energy is “wasted” on trees that do nothing but “look good”. I spoke aloud looking at the gal next to me waiting to cross the street, who asked if I was on a cell, and I said no, that I was talking aloud. I commented at how many trees Portland has and why don’t we have any fruit trees? Or, edible nut trees? She agreed and said that it was a great idea. Maybe there are and I just don’t see them. However, People are going hungry and we are spending tons of money to keep “synthetic aesthetic” trees alive. I totally understand the really old ones, but new ones are being planted all the time, why not a “few” fruit trees? It would benefit wildlife as well. If there are fruit trees out there that people can freely pick from, feel free to correct me, send me the information, I will publish the statistical data.

A previous landlord used to sell whole boxes of apples for $5 right off his driveway. My mother did the same when we had an abundance. She would take boxes to school putting them out for staff and kids for free in the lunch rooms. We have all this property and land, people are going hungry, but we can’t plant a few sustainable elements, in adequate placement, that would nourish those who are on the street or even just to understand what it really means to be self sufficient/ sustainable?? There are plenty of native fruit trees that would add value to our city, that wouldn’t cost much, and could be treated as if they die they die and we plant another one instead of trying to keep it alive! The strong ones will keep until something happens, just like in nature. When inhabitants weren’t around, the tree died and new ones sprung up, simple as that. Spray a bit here an there and leave it at that. If you have land, use it to it’s fullest capacity, including community gardens! Stop the HOA bull and get some use of the land!

Can you see the Fruit Trees through the Forrest? It’s harvest time. If you have an abundance of fruits or vegetables make sure it gets to the gleaners and pantries for the hungry and poor (Sunshine Food Division /http://www.sunshinedivision.org . “Pick your own” Here is a link to canning your own fruits and vegetables. http://tinyurl.com/9cfcymu Make a home baked pie for Charity! A Natural Prodigy

Life on earth. Do you ever notice, from a sapling, that no matter how old a tree, mother nature always gives it fresh new foliage every spring? Fall may whither her leaves, while crisp winter air freezes her branches, but every spring no matter how old the tree, when in good health, it is rejuvenated by green sprouts and foliage. No matter how old, fresh colors coat our planet. Amazing! When we all use our minds in the same way, how remarkable this place will be.

I Remember

Filed under: Junk & Treasure — Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , — crystalclearsolutions @ 6:55 am

I remember when the day was long and nights were short, when a gentle breeze swept the hills and plains.  I remember when my Father’s rolling voice called out the evening supper.  I remember a time when children filled the streets without fear and ran among the woods laughing, chasing all that was good.  I remember roasting marshmallows and singing in the rain.  On days like this, one can only hope that we will find the heart to restore that which has been taken away.

Pod4Print – Who are you counting on?

I hope Printing projects never go away, they are a Premiere marketing tool. In today’s virtual world, it’s like being handed a gift. There is a warmth of being handed a creatively customized brochure, receiving a cleverly crafted postcard and above all handing out fully loaded 4 pocket corporate packets with all the bells and whistles and I mean this literally. When is the last time you received a logo gadget in the mail?

Today I toured the privately owned Pod4Print facility in Beaverton Oregon, a $7 + mil annual revenue local business. I was very impressed by the full service print, pack and send distribution center run by individuals with over 20 years of business expertise, catering to high profile organizations such as Portland Timbers, Pac Health, ODS and Columbia Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Pod4Print is fully sustainable, from soy based ink to paper, with FSC lean certification. WOW. I’m fully confident, when on-time delivery counts, companies can trust Pod4Print. I know my success will depend it. Check them out!
